Met Gala 2025

On Monday, May 5, 2025, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City opened its iconic steps once again for one of fashion’s most anticipated nights of the year for the Met Gala 2025: A Celebration of Pure Tailoring.

This year’s Met Gala centred around the theme Tailoring Black Style,” a tribute to the artistry and cultural significance of bespoke tailoring. The red carpet (which was blue this year) became a runway of refined craftsmanship, as celebrities leaned into the theme with striking dedication. Co-hosts A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, and Lewis Hamilton led the charge, each presenting fresh, inventive takes on classic tailoring.

The fashion on display was diverse and bold—from sharply cut blazers and tailored trousers to unexpected combinations like vests without jackets and suits paired with shorts, as seen on Doechii in Louis Vuitton.

However, it wasn’t just about suits. Gowns and skirts held their spotlight. Anne Hathaway honoured the legendary André Leon Talley in an elegant Carolina Herrera ball gown layered with a crisp shirt. Cynthia Erivo sparkled in a dramatic Givenchy look featuring a structured jacket and full skirt. Furthermore, Diana Ross turned heads in a cascading gown with a sweeping three-meter train, embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren—a custom creation by Ugo Mozie.

Ultimately, the 2025 Met Gala delivered one of the most refined and unforgettable interpretations of fashion to date. Nevertheless, for the fans watching around the world, the question remains: Which stars truly embodied the essence of “pure tailoring”?
