Vivienne Westwood presented its first-ever bridal runway show at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2025, unveiling the 2026 collection in the historic setting of the University of Barcelona.

Vivienne Westwood’s breathtaking new collection

In the ethereal setting of the University of Barcelona, Vivienne Westwood delivered a breathtaking performance that seamlessly merged history, haute couture, and high fashion. The iconic British fashion house headlined Barcelona Bridal Night, the crown jewel of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2025, with a show that marked a major milestone: its first-ever runway presentation dedicated solely to bridal fashion.

Furthermore, over 450 guests were invited to witness the unveiling of the Vivienne Westwood 2026 Bridal Collection, a triumph of elegance, rebellion, and romance. Additionally, as the sun dipped behind the Gothic architecture, 34 models glided through the cloister’s arcades, framed by blooming orange trees that subtly echoed motifs found throughout the collection itself. The result was a transporting, near-cinematic atmosphere.

Embracing new visions

Creative Director Andreas Kronthaler drew deeply from the house’s signature codes while embracing new visions. “Bridal has always been an important part of the house,” he said. “The collection is a pot pourri of past, present and future. Corsetry is the foundation—it enhances you and gives you presence. And tailoring—to add a masculine flair.”

Thus, the gowns ranged from delicate and dreamlike to sculptural and avant-garde. Pale pink duchess silk from Italy, whisper-thin organza, rich jacquards, vintage-inspired lace, and hand-washed georgette came together in a visual symphony of textures. Besides, the collection featured nods to 18th-century botanical illustrations, romantic rose prints, and orange blossom accents—a tribute to the university’s courtyard and a symbol of purity.

What is more, among the standout pieces was the Madame de Pompadour gown, worn by model and muse Simonetta Gianfelici—an homage to the François Boucher painting from 1756 and a personal favourite of the late Vivienne herself

Yet the evening wasn’t just about glamour—it also carried a powerful message of mentorship and education. In collaboration with local design schools, the house invited 300 students to a dedicated show and involved many in creative workshops leading up to the event.
