Morilee New York unveiled its Goddess Collection at BBFW, showcasing flowing fabrics and sculptural silhouettes under the creative direction of Jiyup Kim.
At this year’s edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, Morilee New York took to the runway with “The Goddess Collection”: a Fall/Winter 2025 debut that also marked the first official presentation under the direction of newly appointed Chief Design Officer, Jiyup Kim.
Rooted in classical inspiration, the collection presented a range of silhouettes influenced by the idea of the goddess, with an emphasis on form, flow, and balance. Draped fabrics moved fluidly across the runway, while structured corsetry and defined bodices anchored the pieces. This contrast between softness and support became a recurring theme throughout the show.
From the start, the designs made use of fabrics like chiffon, satin, and tulle, which were manipulated through pleating, layering, and folding techniques. These choices gave the gowns a sculptural quality without feeling overly rigid. While most looks remained within a neutral bridal palette, subtle variations in texture and shine added visual interest.
Kim’s influence was especially clear in the tailoring. Many gowns featured clean lines combined with strategic draping, emphasizing the shape and posture of each model. The result was a collection that leaned into timelessness, but with updated proportions and thoughtful detailing.
With this first collection under her leadership, Jiyup Kim seemed to introduce a new design language for Morilee: one that draws from the past, but is interpreted through a modern lens.
As the show closed and the lights dimmed, it was clear that Jiyup Kim’s entry into the role marked a new chapter, one grounded in both continuity and quiet evolution.
