BBFW through the eyes of Albasarí Caro

With two decades of experience, Albasarí Caro extends our perspective beyond wedding dresses, showcasing the diversity of the bridal ecosystem, spanning ceremony fashion, haute couture, and accessories.

Albasari Caro, when asked about her perspective on the bridal segment given her extensive 20 years of expertise in the fashion industry, explained that she views the bridal segment as an integral part of the fashion industry, albeit with its own distinct characteristics.

She highlights the immense creativity within bridal fashion, which seamlessly blends tradition with innovation. Caro emphasizes its ability to adapt to evolving consumer habits and address contemporary challenges such as sustainability, social consciousness, digitalization, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence.

Regarding the current campaign theme “NOW,” Caro interprets it as a representation of change and the proactive attitude necessary to stay ahead in the industry. She notes that the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) doesn’t solely feature wedding dresses but also encompasses ceremony, cocktail, and evening attire from renowned brands, including haute couture selections. Furthermore, Caro underscores the inclusion of men’s fashion, first holy communion dresses, and accessories, which are essential elements in both bridal and guest ensembles. In essence, BBFW serves as a convergence point for the entire bridal ecosystem, demonstrating its status as a pinnacle of fashion.

We then wanted to understand Albasari’s perspective on the increase in attention and media coverage towards this segment. The BBFW director acknowledges the growing attention towards the sector she operates within.

She points out the symbiotic relationship between bridal fashion and Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, emphasizing their mutual support and shared objectives. Caro highlights the role of BBFW in elevating the prominence of bridal fashion globally, attributing it to the quality of offerings and the caliber of international buyers attending the event.

While she expresses satisfaction at the sector’s heightened visibility, Caro underscores the accompanying responsibility to sustain its progress with enthusiasm and determination.

"BBFW brings together the entire bridal ecosystem, which is increasingly demonstrating that indeed it is 'fashion' in its purest form. And this year, more than ever, the show will showcase 'fashion' in its broadest sense."

She emphasizes the significance of maintaining close ties with the global bridal industry, a practice she valued in her previous career but now holds in even higher regard. Caro underscores the importance of collaboration and solidarity within the industry, highlighting the mutual exchange of ideas, concerns, and expectations among professionals and companies. She stresses the necessity of staying attuned to the sector’s pulse, particularly within the bridal realm, where such vigilance is paramount.

The director explains that the strategy formulated in September 2022 has proven to be sound, with ‘Now’ representing its natural evolution. Albasari emphasizes the importance of leveraging new technologies while maintaining a steadfast appreciation for human creativity, craftsmanship, and emotion. She underscores that at the core of BBFW lies a deep passion for fashion and the pursuit of excellence in every endeavor.

In this industry, brands often exhibit a keen awareness of shifts in the landscape, sometimes even predicting them ahead of time. Albasari Caro notes numerous instances where entrepreneurs or designers have demonstrated visionary foresight, spearheading transformative shifts within the industry. She characterizes the fabric of the bridal sector as conscious, creative, and industrious, accustomed to showcasing beauty, dedication, and emotion.

“Between 17 and 20 April, BBFW will present the catwalk shows of some 30 designers and expects to have the presence of more than 360 firms, most of them international, at the trade show, which from 19 to 21 April will become the business and networking centre for professionals, buyers, businesspeople, and the most important international bridal sector operators. So, we look forward to seeing you, convinced that we will share fashion, emotions, business and, in short, a great event and a great experience, together.”
