Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) is gearing up for its most expansive and international showcase to date, with over 350 esteemed bridal, ceremony, and accessory fashion brands from around the globe.
The event, scheduled for April 17-20 at the Montjuïc venue, promises to be a vital hub for industry professionals to explore the latest creations, forge new business avenues, and strike commercial deals with buyers representing over 80 countries.
Two months before the event, BBFW allocated 85% of its space to 320 confirmed brands, marking a 6.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This surge hints at surpassing the 350 brands showcased in the previous edition. Notably, the event boasts an impressive 80% international representation, with brands hailing from over 35 countries, a 4% increase from 2023, setting a record for BBFW’s highest international participation.
Diverse international presence and Spanish icons
The surge in international representation is most notable in countries such as the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Ukraine, and Turkey. Approximately 7% of the global offerings come from first-time participants, including countries like Australia, France, Colombia, Kosovo, Lebanon, South Korea, and Romania.
BBFW 2024 will witness the return of renowned Spanish brands like Jesus Peiro, YolanCris, Isabel Sanchis, and more. The event will also feature top-tier international brands such as The Atelier (Malaysia), Liz Martinez, Julie Vino (Israel), Modeca (Netherlands), and others. Noteworthy debuts include Temperly London, alongside revered names like Halfpenny London and Jenny Packham from the UK.
The event is finalizing the participation of over 30 brands in its runway, including giants like Pronovias, Jesus Peiro, YolanCris, and international sensations like Madeline (USA) and The Atelier by Jimmy Choo (Malaysia). The gala night will be graced by the presence of Giambattista Valli. Also, the ‘Showroom’ zone will see a surge in high fashion brands like Zuhair Murad, Viktor&Rolf, Tony Ward (Lebanon), and Ines di Santo (Canada), enhancing BBFW’s reputation as a global trendsetter.
According to Albasarí Caro, BBFW’s director, the 2024 edition is witnessing significant growth in both the number of brands and international diversity, making it one of the world’s most comprehensive and high-level platforms for upcoming fashion trends, extending beyond the bridal sector.
On the other hand, BBFW wanted to promote the participation of bridal brands with its new concept “The Edit”, which will feature brands such as Studio Serravalle, Andrea Lalanza, Mariano Moreno, Olga Macià, Emanuele Bilancia, Studio Moda Bridal, and accessory brands such as The Touch Barcelona, Suzanne Ceremony, Zawadzky or Back to Glam, among others.
Global buyers and markets
BBFW aims to boost business opportunities for participating brands by activating a hosted buyers plan, inviting prominent international buyers from over 80 countries, including emerging markets like Australia.
Organized by Fira de Barcelona with support from the Departament d’Empresa i Treball de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2024 promises a spectacular display of the 2025 collections from more than 30 designers, coupled with commercial showcases from April 19-21 at the Trade Show.
