Last saturday night, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) held the first edition of the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards, in which the best creations of the season were awarded, and the sustainability of the designs and their innovation were valued.
Marlene model HC 2022 by Vivienne Westwood has been chosen as the best wedding dress of the year in the first edition of the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards. With this award, the Barcelona event pays tribute to the iconic British designer who died last December, extolling a creative proposal inspired by Marlene Dietrich. Made with sustainable and recycled materials, the best wedding dress of the season is in tune with the spirit of the new times where aesthetics embrace sustainability and inclusiveness.
The prize for the best women’s bridal collection has been won by the famous Dutch firm Viktor and Rolf Mariage for impregnating their bridal collections with the savoir faire of the tradition of fashion trades and making this precious heritage a source of inspiration to activate the creativity.
The best bridal fashion for the groom has also been awarded. The Carlo Pignatelli collection has been distinguished for showing the essence of what it means to dress the groom for the ceremony, taking care of excellence in materials and execution, and achieving an unmistakable balance between classicism and creativity.
In the best evening/cocktail collection category, the Spanish brand Cortana received an award for its designs that blend artisanal and sustainable fashion and an aesthetic concept that wants to enhance the female body without neglecting comfort.
For its part, the award for the best image campaign went to the accessories firm Monvieve which focuses on slow fashion and sustainability.
Honorary Awards
Likewise, the Barcelona Bridal & Fashion Awards have awarded the honorary award for professional career to Professor Jimmy Choo OBE for his lifelong work dedicated to design and for his work since 2017 as creative director of the bridal fashion firm The Atelier Couture. Yew Loh, director of the brand, also received the award.
The honorary award for emerging talent has been given to the sisters Nicole and Felicia Chang. Taiwanese entrepreneurs founded the Nicole&Felicia brand to redefine modern bridal luxury, reinterpreting beauty and confidence for every woman.
Finally, the Kazán party dress by Isabel Sanchis, with a silk tulle bodice, a paillette crop top and a liquid satin skirt made with recycled polyester threads from plastic bottles, won another special distinction.
All the winners received an exclusive artisan work from Cual Estudio (Valencia) as a trophy, in line with the mission of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week to focus on art and local creations.
